The Captain America Big Bang posting period will be from October 12 to November 12, 2019. If you need an extension during the posting period, please email us at capbigbang@gmail.com to discuss your options, as listed below:


Teams that have claimed a posting date between October 12 to October 29

Your teams can request a maximum of two (2) weeks from your original claimed posting date as your extension period.

If your team is still unable to finish posting on your extension date, you will be able to post your completed works on the platform/s of your choice and submit your masterpost at any time during the Open Extension Window from November 13 to 15.

If you plan to post during this period, please keep us informed so we know your team has not withdrawn from the Bang.

Teams that have claimed a posting date between October 30 to November 2

Your teams can request an extension date only up to November 12.

If your team is still unable to finish posting on your extension date, you will be able to post your completed works on the platform/s of your choice and submit your masterpost at any time during the Open Extension Window from November 13 to 15.

If you plan to post during this period, please keep us informed so we know your team has not withdrawn from the Bang.

For the 2019 edition of the CapBB, we are introducing a 2-day Open Extension Window for all teams who missed posting on their extension date.

During this period, teams may post their completed works on the platform/s of their choice and submit their masterpost to the CapBB community at any time.

If you plan to post during this period, please keep us informed so we know your team has not withdrawn from the Bang.

Please note that due to the short time left till the Bang wraps up for the year, we will not be able to secure a pinch hitter for an author who's collaborating artist withdraws at this point.

We will not accept any submissions after November 15, 11:59 PM Hawaii Time (what time is that for you?).

Masterposts

Teams will post their masterpost directly on the CapBB Dreamwidth community on their posting date. Posting access will be granted during the posting period. If you are new to Dreamwidth, here is a tutorial by potofsoup on where to locate posting to a community.

Posting of Captain America Big Bang collaborations will be staggered throughout the posting period from October 12 to November 12, 2019.

Each team will claim a posting date through a first come, first served claims process on September 21. While you may begin posting to your preferred platform any time during the posting period, your work must be completely posted on your claimed posting date. CapBB is, first and foremost, a collaborative event. Please agree as a team on a posting method that works for all the members of the team.

Some possible methods of posting your collaboration are:

Author posts the fic with the artworks embedded in the fic.

Artist posts the art on their chosen platform/website and links to the fic. Author posts the fic on their chosen platform with the artworks linked or embedded in the fic.

Some possible methods of crediting your collaboration are:

Mentioning and linking your partner in your fic or art post.

On AO3: Co-creators, Inspired by, Gifting, or mentioning and linking your partner in your Author’s Notes.

Posting Date Claims

The 2019 Captain America Big Bang Posting Date Claims will be on September 21, 2019.

Posting Date Claims will be done via Google Forms on a first come, first-served basis. There will be a link to the live spreadsheet that will show the timestamps of when we receive the Posting Date Claims forms.

• Posting Date Claims will be allocated in the order that forms are received. The Google Forms will be sent to you via email.

• Forms submitted with less than five (5) unique dates listed as choices will be asked to resubmit.

• Forms that include dates outside the specified posting period of October 12 to November 12 will be asked to resubmit.

Please be advised that the form questions are in image format and auto-fillers will not function.

Prior to Posting Date Claims, we will provide a Posting Date Claims Calendar where you can view all the available slots per date.

Posting Date Claims forms will be emailed to authors. They will need to claim the team’s posting date, or enlist the help of a proxy if they’re unavailable to make a claim.

Authors, you and your teammate/s must discuss and agree on a preferred posting date before submitting a Posting Date Claims form. If your summary was claimed in Round Two, you will only have one posting date for both collabs.

Captain America Big Bang will have two rounds of claims. Round 1 will open on July 27, 2019 at 4 PM UTC and will close once every fic has been claimed.

Round 2 opens on August 3, 2019 and will last for 24 hours. Round 2 will be opt-in for both authors and artists, so not all fics may be up for a second claim.

What is a Big Bang?
A Big Bang is a writing challenge that prompts authors and artists to collaborate and create transformative works together. Authors provide a summary for their story, which is posted anonymously for artists to claim. Artists will then create a piece of art based on that story.

What pairings and characters are eligible for this challenge?
The Captain America Big Bang (CapBB) is open for all canon characters in the Captain America MCU and Captain America Comics. This means gen, slash, het, and poly works are allowed in all ratings.
This challenge is inclusive of all characters and ships within the Captain America ‘verse. As such, kinkshaming and shipshaming will not be tolerated. It is important for participants to respect each other during the duration of the event, please.

Where will the 2019 edition of the Bang be hosted?
Due to the recent changes in Tumblr’s policy, we will be hosting the 2019 edition of the Bang on Dreamwidth. We will also be cross-posting to Tumblr and Twitter, so you can also follow us on those platforms to remain up to date. If you’re new Dreamwidth, here is a very informative and helpful series of posts written by potofsoup to get you started.
