Summary: Bucky Barnes has always done what is necessary to provide for him and his loved ones. When work is hard to come by he turns to the only outlet he can think of, boxing. Whether he likes to admit it or not, it’s a dangerous sport and with it come more injuries than he could have ever seen coming. Steve does his best to watch on as the love of his life puts his body through abuse in order to provide for them. The only issue is, is it all worth if if Bucky might lose his life in the ring fighting a boxer who is notorious for being violent in the ring.

Uncle Bucky came back to them in the dead of winter. Not at Christmas, although it would have been cooler if he had if Thor had anything to say about it. But, as usual, nobody was asking Thor. No, Uncle Bucky came back at the rather boring and uninspiring date of February 1st, in the middle of a snowstorm rife with thunder and lightning. It’s not, however, a coincidence that he returns on the anniversary of his disappearance all those years ago. Mother and Father believe it’s thanks to one timely (and persistent) seance and Dr. Zola’s help that they have Uncle Bucky back again. While Loki and (reluctantly) Hela and Thor, are of the opinion that the man claiming to be their long lost Uncle just might be a fraud.

Then, of course, there’s the Nurse who’s meant to be taking care of Uncle Bucky and helping him adjust to being back home. Nurse Rogers doesn’t really look much like what one expects of a nurse and acts like one even less so.

Summary:

However, disaster strikes, as it so often does, when Steve realizes that he has feelings for his newly acquired best friend, Bucky. Can he keep it a secret? Does he dare say anything? Would it ruin everything he has found? Through costume party and through Valentine’s day, through Christmas and sickness and stress, Steve keeps falling for Bucky (not to mention falling asleep on his couch), but can you really blame him?
